TWOONE ‘So Far’ Mixed Media Exhibition - Melbourne

NO VACANCY GALLERY PRESENTS: 10th September

After the critically acclaimed success of his landmark debut solo show, One Thousand Cans, TWOONE returns with a stunning body of work for his second solo show at No Vacancy Gallery, ‘SO FAR’.

TWOONE (Hiroyasu Tsuri) moved to Melbourne from Yokohama, Japan at the age of 18. His consistently powerful work and standout style have seen him steadily become a stalwart of the Melbourne street art scene. His involvement has extended from numerous group shows and exhibitions to live painting demonstrations, murals, community art workshops and most recently collaborations with veteran MC Elf Transporter and his LO2’s fleet.

Combining his early love of skateboard graphics and local graffiti with his interest in his cultural heritage, One Thousand Cans was an incredibly ambitious project inspired by the story of Sadako Sasaki and the 1000 paper cranes. In SO FAR, TWOONE draws inspiration from within, working from his Hoddle St hideout to create work that invites viewers to enter the dream-like state from where his ideas originate.

SO FAR sees TWOONE continue to incorporate a burgeoning passion for carpentry into his art. Works are built from found objects from coffee tables to corrugated plastic roofing and begin developing an identity during construction. This identity is brought to life by TWOONE’s unique painting style, both detailed and fluid, calming and expressive as he transforms these objects into elements of the peaceful world he shares through his art.

TWOONE’s mythical animal characters portray a pureness of spirit and a zen serenity that characterise the calm, thoughtful and generous spiritual world of TWOONE.

No Vacancy Gallery is launching their new and improved permanent exhibition space on Jane Bell Lane within QV with the TWOONE solo show, SO FAR.
